  • Whats your opinion on wording in card inserts?

    Hi

Need people advise or opinions - do people prefer to buy cards with wording inside/verses or to be left blank ????

Ive made cards for last few years and most well the majority of them I leave blank on the inside so people can write their own message.

I allways put a cordinating insert in but leave it blank.

    Your views opinions please

    thanks in advance

I'm afraid I am a lazy card maker in the thousands I've made I have never added words or inserts unless it was a special order, only because I cannot be assed with the hassle and fortunatly my customers don't mind

Well, I am a bit un decided on this. When I first started making cards I remember reading somewhere that it is best to leave the cards blank. I always go to the trouble of doing a matching insert and doing the verse in a co -ordinating colour to the card. Plenty of verses can be found on web sites. They look so much more finished off to me. I have gone to Craft Fairs and been dissapointed when a card hasn't had an insert and verse. At the one Craft Fair that I did I do remember a few people liking one of my cards but saying that the verse wasn't right for what they wanted it for. Now I tend to keep most of them a basic 'Happy Birthday',' Best wishes', Congratulations etc. Something short and sweet! Myself, I love a nice verse but I'm sentimental I suppose!!!! I would always put an insert in the card though - blank or otherwise. I think maybe it is best to do some blank and some versed. Whatever we do Sarah we will never please everyone!!!!!!!!! Sue xx

          Hi Sara

I always leave mine blank, this is mainly because I have only ever bought blank cards and most people I know and make cards for only want blank.

I leave my cards blank. I prefer to buy cards (if I don't make them!) that are blank as I am a control freak and like to write exactly what I want in a card! But that's just me!

I have only ever been asked once if I could put some text into a card, but then a lot of the cards I make could be used for any occassion so they are best left blank anyway.

I've never bothered with inserts either - never thought about that one before. Given the amount of work I put into the designs themselves I don't suppose it would take much effort to do inserts! Might have to try that out. Thanks all who mentioned inserts!

Mine are blank too. The only time I do a verse is for a special order when it has been requested, or at Christmas when it is obviously just a simple verse. If you do have verses it will never be the right one in the right cards etc etc. I have not found it a problem, it doesn't seem to stop people buying them.

I leave mine blank as that's what I find most people prefer these days - me included. I sometimes use Happy Christmas peeloffs inside Christmas cards but that's about it.

I like to put an insert into my cards too but leave them blank. Like someone else said, some cards can be for more than one occasion so it'd seem a shame if someone liked the outside but the wording inside was wrong. Mind you if you're making a card specifically for someone or something then a verse or sentiment inside would be a lovely finishing touch.

Leave them blank I think....I've put cards down before because of the insert was a bit 'twee'.

I leave them mostly blank as some designs could be used for more than one ocassion.

Rather than put wording, sometimes I will put a sticker/decoration of some type inside that is in keeping with the design on the front of the card.

                              Hi

Always keep your card blank. Its the cover which explain what for this card is. Sometimes people usually like to keep there wishes only mentioning there name. but the covr explains the feelings.
