  • US or UK fragrance?

    Hi all

I'm planning on making some melts to sell on and have moved over to Soy Wax. Now what would you guys recommend, US or UK fragrance? If i understand correctly US fragrance is stronger?

In the melts i plan doing 1LB wax to 9 - 10 % ( 40mls ) Fragrance, if i got the US fragrance would the 40mls be too strong? I want to create melts with a great smell.

    Let me know your thoughts.

    Thanks
    Steve

    Hi Steve,

Realistically there is no difference in either of the fragrances. Many Manufacturers of UK FO also supply the US or also have labs and factories in the US. It is a myth that US fragrance oils are stronger, but it is true that there are some weak UK Fragrance oils.

Cheap fragrance oils contain lots of fillers and more expensive fragrance oils contain little to no fillers. Finding a reputable supplier in the UK may be more cost effective, as returns for damages and guidance for example are easier to resolve.

Very good advice from CandleMan there, as per usual.

As with everything in this game, it's all about testing. Test different fragrance suppliers and when you find a good one, use them.

Although I am guilty of shipping in from the US on occasion, our own FO scene is only going to improve if we use it more and more. Let the suppliers do all the importing work and don't be afraid to ask them if they can source a fragrance you need if they don't already have it.

To Spencer: The US does offer more choice when it comes to FO, but then they offer more choice when it comes to everything so... :P But I do agree with your statement of buying more from UK companies
