  • Help - mum's 60th birthday!

    Hello all,

I'm new to the forum and just wondered if anyone had any ideas of what I could do for my mum's 60th bday. I want to make something for her (I am also buying her some expensive jewellery) but not sure what to do. I was thinking along the lines of a memory book or box filled with my memories of good times together, but not sure. Does anyone have any other ideas? I'm not too bad at crafts, but can't profess to be highly skilled either!

    Many thanks!

My mum is 60 this year as well, and I'm also struggling to decide what to get her. So am sorry i'm not much help!

      When is her birthday?

The memory box/ book does sounds like a nice idea, that way she will have something special to hang on too.

There are a few people on here who spe******e and make some lovely keepsake items, hopefully someone will come along soon to help you out!

Thanks Hopej, her birthday is in April, hence why I want to get something sorted soon. I will look into keepsake items like you suggest.
Hope you manage to sort something for your mum

At the risk of sounding like an advert for myself (LOL) the Memory Boxes and Keepsake Kollection frames I'm making have a mixture of things in them alongside various photographs decoupaged so they look "3D" or Kaleidescoped or Pyramaged or Mosaiced or whatever new cutting-photos-to-bits techniques I have a bash at!

But if you're not into decoupage etc, you could still get a really nice effect yourself by putting your photos together in a collage and putting some keepsakes or mementos in there - or snippets from poems she might like - or something specific about the day she was born - or some images of her chinese horoscope sign for her year of birth

You're welcome to trawl my Blog for ideas

Thanks Shaz, I will definitely have a look at your blog. I like the idea of having photos with different mementos, poems etc.

My daughter made an album for my birthday. She put photos in of me as a child, then getting married, then the kids. It was a lovely gift a kind of 'this is your life'

Thanks for all the ideas. I did a photo album for her 50th, hence why I'm now having problems finding something for her 60th. I think I might make a scrap book/keepsake box with lots of different things in like memories, some pictures, momentos etc etc.

                    Thanks you all!
