  • Flat postage stamps!

Bit of an odd one I know (and that's just me - ha ha!) but does anyone know the best method to flatten postage stamps. I have lots that have been soaked off envelopes etc but the edges have curled up a little. I have tried them in a book with things stood on but that hasn't worked - do you think there is a way I can iron them? I don't want the glue to come out onto the iron - not that I use it for ironing clothes mind you!
Anyway any advice would be much appreciated

What about in middle of two bits of brown paper (like a sandwich) shiney side up then iron it that way the glue comes off onto the paper ?

I seem to remember from my childhooddays of stamp collecting ( a LONG time ago!!) that it was best to weight the stamps down whilethey dried,if they'd been soaked off envelopes.
Can't suggestany way of flattening them now, unless you wet themagain, and redry them under some heavybooks.

Hehehehe!! You do that too??!!! (well I do it for unfranked stamps that I can reuse!)

I actually just cut carefully around the edges so don't try and lift them off the orginal envelope....

What about laminating them? Could be a bit fiddly getting them all neat and tidy in a laminating sheet but then you could cut round them afterwards??

        Does this help?!!

I seem to remember ironing them between two sheets of brown paper when I was young (?)

I know this works, Ive done it for a play before - but greaseproof / baking paper is better than plain brown, as (depending how much glue is left on the stamps) they have a tendancy to stick to normal paper under the heat.

Fab thanks - it looks like the iron might have to come out! Gotta find it first though!
