  • Toaster Ovens

    Hello,

Hoping someone can give me some advice on baking polymer clay.

I had a complete disaster this afternoon and a a good few hours work ended up in the bin! (had a blonde moment and read the temp instructions wrong!! eeek!!) So I now have a very smelly oven and house, and probably in an hour or so some very miffed housemates that they cant use the oven tonight!

So it go me thinking that I probably should get a seperate toaster oven, have had a look online and i'm a little confused which one to get. Have seen one its a Hinari Tiny Top Oven but i think that it only has 3 temperatures, which are all too high.

Can anyone please tell me what they use to bake their clay? And if you know if the Hinari is the best to get, cant really afford an expensive one.

    Thank u

    Sarah

Poor you! Can't help with the toaster over, but you could always treat the housemates to pizza and they wont mind that the oven is smelly!

Well luckily only one is home so far and he is a microwave meal fan, so think I'm in the clear!

Otherwise, yes think its gonna be takeaway on me tonight!

I use a delonghi table top oven, quiet expensive at £100 but i have never had any trouble with it. It has the temp in degrees C and also has a timer in case you forget about your work. Would highly recommend it and I got min from Amazon. If you get a cheap old toaster oven I would get a oven thermometer. Sometimes the small toaster ovens are a bad idea as the elements are too exposed and singe the clay.

Thank you Caketopper, thats really helpful.

I'm sooooo annoyed with myself for burning it! Basically, and I cant believe I'm admitting to this with everyone on here.
I didnt realise that being American the oven temperatures would be different - so the Farenheit temperature was first. Being used to only English reciepes etc, I read the 1st temperature and thought it was that - although did think it was rather high, especially as my oven only goes up to 250 - not the 275 it said. I only realised AFTER that I should of done it at 130!! I'm feeling very stupid at the moment - but will blame the blonde hair

Will Mr Muscle oven cleaner be ok to clean it? I used bicarb of soda last night but it didnt really do much - our oven is in a bit of a state anyway.

          Thaks again

I would be totally lost without my toaster oven! When I first started, I used to use my kitchen oven but running up and down the stairs all the while was a bit of a bind.

My toaster oven is a bush one and I absolutely love it!! Its so big inside compared to my old one (which by the way went haywire one day and burnt a bride and groom with their gypsy caravan, boy did I cry over all that hard work)!

Got this one from argos and I think it cost me about either £65, or £85, but oh so worth it.
