  • Hot Glue Gun Leaks glue out the side - Why?

I have a Bostick hot glue gun (bought new at a Boot Sale last year)

I used it for the first time today and as we were using it, the glue started leaking out of the side of the gap at the top.

Is this normal or are we doing something wrong?

The glue was coming out of the nozzle and the the item is certainly well stuck - just the problem of hot liquid glue oozing out the side...
    Thanks Nancy

In my experience this happens with even the best of them. It is simply because te join isn't liquid proof and of course when the glue is hot enough to be effective it needs t be really runny, i.e. liquid. If it is like mine you will find that it sets in the crack and after a while stops oozing out as it doesn't get hot enough there to melt. so fills the crack.

Thanks Pete - I am glad to hear what you say, as the glue is really strong and I would like to have the gun to use again, when needed.
I also like the way it bonds very quickly, so you don't have to hold the two surfaces together.
