Silver card for inkjet printer

Hello everyone, I am new here and I need some help so I hope you don't mind me posting a question straight away!

I am trying to make some birthday invitations. I want to print them onto silver card using my inkjet printer.

Unfortunately I am struggling to find some card that the ink will stick too. I have tried a normal piece of silver card which I bought from my local stationers but the ink just smudges.

Is this possible or am I trying to achieve the impossible?

I would appreciate any advice you can give me.

I don't know if anybody else has a different opinon, but the shine you would get from silver card would make it smudge, especially mirror card.
If you found a dull silver and were very careful with it after it has been printed it may dry

That's what I was hoping but after three hours it still isn't dry!

The card I have used is slightly pearlised.

I thought it might be pearlised. To be honest silver isn't silver if it doesn't have that shine to it, it just becomes grey.
Maybe you could print onto some parchment paper or vellum, and then attach that to the silver card?

I don't think the card is porous enough to hold the ink. I'd do what Louise suggests and use something else to print on and stick it to the front. Either that or use peel offs to put the birthday message on the front and then print the inside.

Could it be the ink, like in card making when you're stamping on mirror board or acetate and want a permanent image you need to use a Stayzon ink. Could there be something similar for printers?
