  • Public Liability Insurance nightmare..

Not sure if this is the right place to put this but I need some help!

I am trying to organise public liability insurance and the broker I have contacted is having real problems as none of the insurance companies seem to be set up for craft businesses. Are there any businesses out there that have got insurance? Where did you go? All I have had so far is a quote that is just stupidly high for the cover I want. I only need cover for £1million.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I am with the NMTF (National Market Trader Federation) - a lot of crafters use them but there are a few others for sure. I think it has been discussed in the Craft Fair forum so you may want to try and do a search in the forum.

I just checked with Helen and she has cover with Heath Insurance Brokers. I dont know the details but might be worth a look.

        Hope it helps

              £5,000,000 public liability for £46 a year

Yes I pay £46 per year for £5,000,000 public liability insurance for my craft stall for markets and craft fairs. The company is C.M.T.I.A. Combined market traders insurance association. I am at work at the moment so don't have their contact details try searching on google. Otherwise contact your local town Market office as they will have details of insurance providers. Forget the Brokers.

I also tried CMTIA and had a good result. you can contact them on 0208554 5273 or 02085008489. as soon as I sent a cheque for £46 I was covered for 5 million. Really helpful people too.
                    hope this helps

                        Hi,

we use Ian Wallace craft insurance (sorry but I can't place the link as I don't have sufficient postings - a quick search on google will come up with it though). We found him to be extremely helpful and obviously spe******es in craft business insurance.

hope this is of help to you.

                          Thanks everyone!
I did find insurance last year when I asked this question but to tell you the truth I was done! So as it will be coming around again pretty soon I will be trying everyone you suggested.

Try The Market Traders Federation at I think £76 per year, it includes public liability and emplyers liability.

I used the combined market traders insurance group .
I think it cost me £46 with a £1.50 fee to do it over the phone, which was great as I was covered straight away.
This was just for public liabilty insurance and was the best price I found
