New to cutting vinyl but not new to crafting

Ri-Mark
Also application tape Demark
Q is.... The vinyl seems to stick to the application tape and not release very easy. What I mean is when I do lettering eg 1inch tall, when I'm starting to peel back the tape it seems. To bring with it the tops of. The letter and I'm. Having a hard time just peeling it off compared to youtube vids I see.
Is the vinyl basic and not very good
Is it the application tape (clear)?
Hope someone can shed any light?
I notice a lot of USA crafters use Oracle vinyl.
