    1. A computer
    2. Some where to sell them. ie: a web site or e-bay shop.
    3. A digital camera.
    4. Customers

    Hey presto
    - A whole world of fluffy stuff.

I keep wanting to run before I can walk.

I dont have anything to sell!

Would I have to declare myself as self employed?

well about 1/3 but remember you can put all your costs against your tax including your car a room in your house petrol pens paper etc..

Last year the gov did a deal for computers that ment if you paid say £1,000 for a pc you'd get £1,000 off your tax bill..

If your working @ the same time and say your tax was £800 for your crafts but you invested into the business £2,000 which £1,000 could go against tax then you'd be refunded £200..

It has alot of advantages being self employed..

                lol

                no chance of that..

Everything to do with your crafts goes again tax.. Stock is a big way to lower your tax bill..

If you run a tight ship and have a good accountant/your good with the tax law your be paying say 20% far less than when your full time..

In the uk if you receive income (money or reward) for a service or product then you are required by law to register with the tax office.
Each person has a personal tax allowance of £4,500.00 (or similar) that means that before you paid any tax then you would be entitled to earn that much.
Every thing you spend on materials, equipment, etc for your business is taken off your earnings. So the amount is assessed as income - outgoings - personal tax allowance = taxable income. The tax office is a great place to start with a basic enquiry. My local office runs course for free for self employed people or those thinking of going down that path.
full time mum and very very part time crafter.
