  • A big test of 100% one oil soaps

    Hi all,

some time ago, I was making a small experiment where I tried to get a feeling on how different oils affect the final soap by making 100% one oil soaps.

I know that soapcalc gives some estimate on hardness, bubliness, foam, conditioning, but holding the soap in hand is something totally different. Moreover, soapcalc does not estimate the soap color, how it will behave in trace (is blender necessary, how long it takes...) or problems with unmolding.

I have finally put everything online - or at least the first part (experiment set up, trace, unmolding, color).

I think it might be of interest for some of you, so enjoy and feel free to share!

Now, I an writing up the next part - after two weeks - color changes, hardness, foaminess, bubliness

    Have a nice soapmaking day!

Long live your bar of soap!

Thanks to all for encouragement, it helps me to go forward. I have some other experiments in my head, we will see how they will come up

I posted the foaming test after two weeks, video of each soap included! There will be another one on how the soaps look like almost after a year a comparison of colors over time...

What an interesting experiment Evik. Gives me a better understanding of how ingredients will set up in the finished cold process method. As i newbie i've stuck to 2 ingredients so not to overwhelm myself. Good to know i can look on your blog and determine what else i could use

Must have taken you a while to do it, but that's all part of the fun
