  • Palm oil usage?

I'm very new, but have a desperate question to ask. Do you know where I can buy sustainable palm oil from or what's the best substitution to use? I have quite a few recipes that I want to try but they use palm oil and I am opposed to use it as rainforests are cut down to make way for palm oil plantations and it endangers orangutans and other species.

Hello & . If you look at it says that there is no such thing as sustainable palm oil. If you Google 'palm oil substitutes' you'll get loads of information about various substitutes. Hope that helps

I don't use palm oil myself now in my newer recipes that I've had certified; but if I were to buy it then I would purchase from Fresholi... Helen's description states: "Our organic palm oil is sourced from sustainable, eco-friendly crop plantations in Columbia who are signed up to RSPO."

If you definitely wish to avoid using palm oil at all in your soap then I would suggest heading over to Gracefruit's site... Elizabeth has a selection of palm oil free soap recipes that she's posted on there... Worth a go to give yourself a feel for different oil combos and hardening times when palm's left out...

Don't be tempted to sub Trex or Pura etc from the supermarket thinking it is 'just' a hard veg oil though - they do contain palm...

          Me again...

Oh no, what is ethical to use when it comes to vegetable oil? I haven't found anywhere on the net who sells it for soap purposes. The same for sunflower oil also, I read you shouldn't use the supermarket stuff for your products.
