    Hello Sprinkles,

Unfortunately we are not so lucky when it comes to bead shops round here, in fact apart from Hobbycraft (which I agree with you is a bit samey) and John Lewis there isnt really anything.

The nearest bead shop (that I know of) is in Newbury, not sure if you are prepared to travel that far out. I have been there once and it is only a little shop but very nice, and the owner is very friendly. She has done it in a pick and mix style, so you get a little bowl when you go in and you fill it up, which is sooooo easily done!! I spent a small fortune when I went there and luckily for my wallet its that bit just too far for me to go regulary .

The shop is called Flutterby Crafts and she also has another shop there which sells everything related to card and papercraft. Please feel free to PM if you need anymore details

    Hope this helps,

I have seen Newbury on a bus frontage! I'm off into Reading now, so ill look up timetables. Thank you for that.

John Lewis is is pretty limited, isn't it. A few Guttermans and a row of findings. I always end up wandering into the fabric section! then rearing off to the exercise machine section where they have that bum shaper!

Ho hum, thank you for your help

John Lewis your right is not great, its a shame we dont have a decent beading/ craft shop nearby, would love to open one of my own, but alas it has to be just a dream for now!

The shop is not in Newbury town centre, it is just outside by Wyevale, its on a converted farm. I had a google for you and found the website http://www.flutterbycrafts.co.uk/m_32.asp

        Happy shopping!

Sadly nope, theres nothing much creative in Reading(im about 15 minutes away).John Lewis is so expensive and Im fed up of Hobbycraft.
I think a beadshop is definately needed locally to me,one where I get to choose what it sells.

Ive recently applied for a job which has a small craft section.I have sneaky ideas that if I get the job I will subtley yet strongly(in a hypnotic way)get them to stock all craft stuff I like, especially as the one and only craft shop we had closed down.

Anyone tried the Bead Base in Basingstoke. The forums won't let me post the website, but you can google "Bead Base" and it comes up about third.
The website has a link to a map.

Not trying to turn this into an advert, but my wife runs it and she would love to see new beaders come in.

Hmm that would be nice. I spent £20 in hobbycraft- on nothing really!!

It would be nice to walk into a place selling semi precious stones that don't cost a bomb, beadsdirect it is pretty cheap! Places like 'The works' always sell cardmaking stuff, but rarely do they have beads, let alone findings.
