  • Can anyone tell me what this is please?

My OH bought this heart shaped pendant at a bead fair and didn't listen to what it was when he bought it (typical!) I thought it might be banded agate or maybe jasper but not sure, saw some similar on ebay a few months ago but can't find any now and can't remember what they were either. Any ideas? I was just about to list it on my website and need to describe it.

It certainly looks like some form of Agate, but I wouldn't like to say for sure!

I'd say agate too. The markings are very similar to those you get on blue lace agate, except of course they would be blue. I've just done a quick search, and I'm afraid I haven't come up with it's name, but it looks like a good quality piece.

As a quick guide Jaspers are more like stone and agates like glass. I think it looks like agate. Most agates are named after the place they were found like African agate or Brazilian agate so you may not be able to find the name.
You could just call it banded agate.

In a flash of inspiration I emailed the shop we got it from (who don't have anymore on their website) and they confirmed it is agate, in fact it's Mexican crazy lace agate. Thank you for your help
