There is a post on Kitch Kitty's forum UK Beaders, about Bead Magazine Issue 3. It's worth reading for anybody who gives this magazine shelf space. I shall say no more.
Are you talking about ElleArt's post about her work not being displayed the way she asked them to?
The magazine's ''reputation'' is certainly suffering from that post at ukbeaders forum! We should support the magazine as it's the first UK one, but they're damaging their own readership!

Yes Bea, it is Elle's post. My problem from the start about this 'UK' magazine is that it's published by Ashdown, a US publisher - now what makes it 'The first UK beaders magazine'? I really can't understand what the attraction is, there are far better sources of beading information on the US market than this. As I said on UK Beaders forum, the only thing 'UK' about it is the adverts! Oh, and the staff - who threaten their reader base with legal action for daring to complain about shoddy treatment. We should be supporting beaders - not publishers, I don't know ElleArt, but having read the thread, it speaks for itself. http://ukbeaders.forumup.org/viewtop...orum=ukbeaders
Justice is a right for everyone - and craftspeople have enough problems with exploitation!
I managed to get a read of the mag at the bead fair - I see what Elle meant. The editor's response was more of a 'look, we got an apology - leave it' sort of thing. By virtue of the fact that she is an editor of a national magazine, and is supposed to be 'good at english', I would expect her response to be more enlightening than it was. The proof will be in the sales of the next issue.
"Because there are two sides to every story"..............................yep. got me too.
Elle has responded to the 'apology' thing - never believe what you read in the papers! BTW, if it looks as if I'm sticking my nose in where I shouldn't, I believe injustice - in any form - is unforgivable. I don't like the Chinese in Tibet, I don't like the way children are exploited to make clothes for the west, etc, etc. I also don't particularly like the power publishers have over solo contributors. So there.

Agree with you there Peter! Off now to see what Elle has said.......
Mmmmmm - the plot thickens as she has only apologised for the upset caused and not what she said in her original post - I'll be watching this one develop!!! Like a bit of intrigue me
