Finnishing beaded thread

Ive never really used thread to bead necklaces ect,(usually wire and crimps) but have recently shortened a pearl necklace for my mother.
The thread was finnished with a kind of clasp that holds and covers the knot...its probably very simple.. but i don't know what they are called
and any ideas where i get them??

Sounds like its a callotte - you can get them from most places that sell findings.

Yes, it does sound like a calotte. I got some once from my local beading shop, but I would have thought you get them in most paces that do findings.
