I've been to Prague, but I know of no bead/craft shops... sorry! Maybe you should ask on somewhere like tripadvisor?

the street markets in prague are best for beads. Theres a few littlle shops but nothing amazing. There is a big bead factory on the outskrts that you can go on day trips too from the centre of town.

My husband used to bring me home string after string of pretty glass beads when he'd been on business trip - mostly from markets or smaller shops there so I'm sure you will find plenty to oggle at

Hi, whereabouts is the factory, please? Me and hubby are hoping to go next year, we are taking our touring caravan and I want to bring lots of beads back, (I wonder how many beads you can get in a 4 berth caravan?) LOL.

I visited Prague last September and I had a great time. Crystal and glass is everywhere, in fact I found it all a bit overwhelming at first. Anyway, here's some notes/thoughts of mine from that trip. However, I notice the exchange rate has gone down and it is now about 30kr to £1:

One of my favourite places to buy beads was Havelska Market. This is off the Old Town Square. Touristy but nice little stalls and they are covered so no problems if it rains. The bead stall is family run. During the week son & girlfriend & weekend (Saturday) mum & dad. Lots of packets & bead mixes, findings and wires/threads. However check quality as some larger packs are 2nd quality which have noticeable defects. Lots of packs for 10kr with various numbers of glass or wooden beads. An excellent buy.Other packs with beautiful facetted beads for about 80-100kr. When I went the exchange rate was £1 to 39kr so you can see value was excellent. My other favourite was a tiny bead shop in Prague Castle. This was on Golden Lane. Unfortunately, you have to pay to enter the Castle to get there and the Castle has lots of tourists taking pictures. However it was fun. The beads here were a little more expensive, packets were 30kr and you could buy handmade beads individually which were absolutely gorgeous.

There are a couple of bead shops on Wencelas Square on the same side of the square as Debenhams. They are almost next to each other and one is called East Art Gallery or is it East West Gallery? Sorry for the bad memory but you cannot miss them. One has beads which you can easily see and these are on the ground floor and the other has beads on the first floor. These 2 shops did have lovely beads but I got excited and realised afterwards that they were quite expensive. They were in packets but not with set prices. Also, they were in locked cabinets so you were taken around by a member of staff. So, you would ask to see something & then I felt under some pressure as I did not browse in my own time. Great for the unusual treats but watch prices.

Star beads has been mentioned. Good value. Tiny shop.Next to the KFC at the entrance in a small mall.Well signposted. Once you are at Tescos, KFC is close by on the opposite side of the road. This was within easy walking distance of Havelska Market. Apologies for not remembering the name of the area. Star Beads has packets of beads, findings and some nice bead caps.

I bought a lot of beads which I am ashamed to say, many I have not started to use as yet. However, they are lovely to look at!!

                  Have a great time
