  • Hello... *wave*

    Hi Everyone,

My name is Emma, I'm 22 and I've recently started to get in to crafting (card making, cross-stitching and scrapbooking mainly) and wanted to come here to get hints, tips and help and also because I have a few questions but I'm not sure where to ask them so I'll tag them on the end of this post, if this isn't the right section, I apologise...

I've seen the brass stencils in the shops and I was wondering how I would use these? For example, with embossing powders (how?), just colouring in the stencil (like a child would) etc...

Thanks very much for you heolp, look forward to talking to lots of you soon!

    Best Wishes,
    Emma x

Hi Emma and welcome to the forum.

To Answer your question on brass stencils... the main thing they are used for is embossing, with the help of a light box ( like a work mat that is lit from behind with a perspex top) and a round balled embossing stylus you can follow the pattern and when finished the details will be embossed off of the cardstock. Hope this makes sense.

          Hi there and

I've also used a brass stencil to pencil trace the pattern onto my card stock then cut out the shapes carefully with a craft knife. It made a lovely frame for the item I was mounting

Have fun! Eeeh I remember being 22!
