    Hello to everybody.
    I just joined today.
I knit sew crochet and do pretty well anything fibre related. I have many years of experience and recently started designing. I also knit traditional Ganseys from an old family patterns handed down by my great aunt. I need to find a way of making some money from what I do and originally thought of starting a yarn shop, but as my husband is due to retire shortly and we will be downsizing, I need to wait until we know where we will be moving to so that is put on hold. I thopught of doing demonstrationa and talks to women's groups and craft groups and perhaps selling kits of my own designs. What do other people think?

Hello and welcome! Your ideas sound fab. Have you researched any of them online to see how other people have done it? I love the idea of talks (WI springs to mind), demos, etc., and you could maybe sell some of your patterns there.

Have you thought about downloadable patterns? I think once it's set up, it could be a nice little business!

Keep us informed about your progress!!

Yes I have researched this. I made a list of all the groups likely to be interested within a 20 mile radius and found over 150 also free lists in libraries and on line and posters for Libraries Post offices and church and village halls. Working on website and blog at the moment so will update you when it is ready

Forgot to add that the first kit is almost complete - it is a teddy bear wearing a fisherman's gansy boot and pull on hat When I am satisfied I will offer one to the forum for test knitting if that's OK
