Hi im making a ceramic piece for use outside but could do with help on the following.
can i use earthenware glazes on stoneware clay?
or if i make it with earthenware clay/glazes fired high enough will it stand up to frost?

"can i use earthenware glazes on stoneware clay?" - Not advisable, you'll get poor results.

"if i make it with earthenware clay/glazes fired high enough will it stand up to frost?" - You can't fire earthenware clay or glazes higher than the recommended temperatures or you'll end up with a melted puddle stuck to the kiln floor! And that will ruin your kiln.

Your best bet really is to check on suppliers' websites. They do sell clay that is specially made to be frost proof.
