  • Wooden signs w/ sayings

    Hello everyone! I am new to this.. I am hopeing to get everyones ideas and suggestions for making wooden signs with sayings on them.... I want the letters to look good and im not real great at free handing... I was wonder how other people get the lettering on the signs? Currently I am using a embalsing method with transfer paper.. but it is not working to well because I cant find program to print my words good. HELP PLEASE! thanks alot crafty friends!

    Hello and welcome. I make signs with sayings but I freehand everything - I'm not sure where you'd start with print, although I'm sure it is possible.

    Maybe someone else will come along who knows more!

      You can download all sorts of fonts for free. Use a word processing package to make your lettering , experiment to get the right size, then use graphite paper to transfer it to the wood. Whetehr you paint, use inks or pyrograph the lettering is up to you but remember that different woods work better than others. Cheap plywood is not good, reclaimed wood often is the cheapest way to go, old tables etc can give you a fair bit of better quality wood.
