Hi my name is Becca and I am 17 years old. I own and run a Paint your Own Pottery Studio in Rochester, Kent, along with the help of my mum.

I worked part time in a pottery studio last year, when the owner decided to close up shop I convenienced my mother to open it up again. We had to start from scratch as the previous owner took all the fixtures and fittings, including the kitchen sink. My mother who is a keen Ebayer bought the table and chairs and kiln from Ebay. We have only been going since March and I hope and am very keen to make it a successful enterprise.

Up until last week I was still studying and taking my A levels. I have since left school and can now spend more time down the studio, although my mum is on hand to help wherever she can.

My mum, loves pouring so she makes a lot of our bisque (pottery) we now have over 600 moulds, she is looking at the prospect of supplying other studios and mobile people with bisque.

Hello and welcome to the forum.

Well at such a young age to set up a studio is excellent - mind and stick in and get the A levels though!!! (god I thought my mum had walked into the office there!!).

Good luck and hope all goes well for you and your mum.

    Cheers.

I hope your pottery studio is a great success

Saw a lady making jewellery from pottery pieces in pastel colours - very pretty and she was selling more than a few!

                    Hello Becca,
What a great age to be in business - you must be very determined! Do you run children's parties at your place? I would imagine that they could be quite popular! I went to Uni in Canterbury although I'm not that familiar with Rochester.

Hi to all and thank you for the very warm welcome.

I do have childrens' and adults birthday parties, that seems to be the main part of the business, also Brownie groups.

                        Hi Becca,

                        to the forum.

I too run PYOP business, but I work mobile as I didn't want the constrains of premises. It's fantastic fun so I know why you would want to re-open after the studio closed down. I do a great deal of pouring too which I supply to various places.

                        Good luck.
