  • Hello everyone, just signed up...

    Hello,

I've just signed up to the forum. Looks great!
Just wanted to introduce myself and say hi.
I am a new crafter, have given up the rat race and moved to the hills of the Staffordshire Moorlands in the UK.

I have a workshop in my garden and am giving it a go at the 'good life' with my wife, Clare.

We have set up a website and am selling on ebay at the moment.

There is so much to do to get up and running!! Phew!

As I craft mostly on my own. one thing I vowed to do was to join a good forum so I can be in touch with other crafters and share ideas and learn from each other, and have a bit of a laugh too!

So, hello to you all and thanks for reading my first post!

Hello and welcome to the forum!
It's great that there are a few people here who run their own craft businesses (I'm one of them) it means we can all talk about our experiences. Being a sole trader can be a lonely affair so this forum can be a great place to ask for advice and just have a chat!!
Look forward to getting to know you.

          Thanks for your welcome..

          Hi everyone,

thanks for your welcome, I am sure that this is the right forum to join. All the posts seem very friendly and helpful. I hope I can help others too, in some way!

I make mostly shaker crafts such as pegrack shelves, country signs, animal shapes etc... I also sell a very small amount of crafters supplies such as wooden shapes, rusty tin shapes etc...

I am trying to live a simple lifestyle and basically earn enough to keep going. That is all our goal is, to be able to keep going. We're not looking to be millionaires, quality of life is the big motivator.

It's very hard work but it's very rewarding to be working for yourself. We have a long way to go though!

I am sure that sharing ideas and successes (and failures - of which I ahve many!!) with each other on this forum will help us all.

I look forward to getting to know you all.

Right I've been on this computer since 7.30am, time to get in the workshop!!

Biggest problem for me with my computer based business is disentangling myslef from the lure of the forum to actually go and get on with work!

                  Oh dear god...

...have I stepped into the lions den!!

Yep, men do craft too! Don't they....?

Oh well, if we get bored of crafting we can always talk about why a size 12 in marks and spensers is much bigger than a size 12 in Monsoon..!!!

Hi and welcome to the forum.

Won't be long before the lure of this forum takes over the lure from your crafts!!! Well that's my excuse why I am on the computer and not making things.
