  • Hi Guys just thought I'd introduce myself

Hi guys I'm pretty new to this forum malarky. Anyway my name is Phil. I'm 30 from Leeds and my 'craft' is my photography. The reason i say 'craft' is because I am yet to sell any work at a craft fair yet, mainly because I have yet to get the money together to print enough of my images to make a decent stall.
Anyway I am in the process of getting one of my images framed at a local shop in Pudsey, once I see what it looks liked framed I think I am going to bite the bullet and get a stall organized and see If any of my work sells.

My images range from travel shots of South East Asia to local shots of Whitby and the Lake District. I also do a lot of abstract fine art shots which tie in with the work I did back in my Uni days when studying for my Fine Art degree.

My main purpose for joining this forum is to gain a good knowledge of where the best fairs are in my region and also what type of photography sells the best at these events.

    Cheers

    Phil

Yes, I'm sure we have quite a few photographers who would be able to give you tips and advice. I can't remember all the names of the top of my head (the only one I can remember is dolts007, who's very friendly!) but use the search facility or browse the various sections and you'll find plenty of helpful threads.

        All the best,

        Si.

Click on "User CP" in the top left and then select "Pictures & Albums"... the get posting! You may need to have an account with a site like Flickr or Photobucket... I can't remember as I haven't made any albums myself yet!

Thanks for all the welcome messages guys. I've added a few images to my album to give you an idea as to what I like producing. These are all I have on my computer at work but I will add more when I get home. I really of need to work out which kind of images would sell well at a fair.

Hi Phil and - I've bought photos at craft fairs quite a few times.
One idea that I thought was good was a photographer who plugged in a digital photo frame with his photos on it to catch people's eye. Actually, thinking about it, the guy got an order for 250 framed photos of a robin he'd taken to be given out as freebies at a conference to advertise his company - so you never know what might happen!

Also ready mounted photos of local beauty spots or buildings, etc. seem to do well.
