Er, this is my third try at posting...I have never been on a forum before so obviously there's something I don't understand about posting. Probably won't post because it's too long - my strongest talent is talking...
Greetings from central Texas, where the stars at night are big and bright, and we had a winter storm last night - 29 degrees here at 10:00 in the morning, and sunny - makes the icicles sparkle!
I homeschooled our three children and will be in charge of homeschooling the grands - third one is on the way!
I am a goat milk soap maker - cold process, trying to keep it as natural as I can, so I am going to discontinue fragrance oils and stick to essential oils. I hand rise my Nubian and Alpine dairy goats, hand milk them, and hand make the soap!
I spin and weave at a beginner level, knit at an intermediate level, garden naturally, and am embarking on new crafts - paper making, soy candle making, and potpourri making.
I found this site while googling for information on embellishing my soaps with botanicals...came up with a post from someone asking about it so I registered because it looked like a neat forum!
I have read about sticking the petals, etc., onto the soap after pouring it into the loaf molds, but tried it and found it did not look great, they came off easily, and the rose buds got a little ragged looking during unmolding.
I also read somewhere about "sticking" the botanicals on the next day, with a drizzle of clear melt and pour - texture the surface of the soap log and unmold it the next day, "glue" on the botanicals...we shall see what happens. Has anyone here tried it? Experimenting is expensive!
