  • Cards by Design

Hi all,i am new here and have to say its the best forum i have seen (seen many) I need all the help i can get as i am a self taught card maker and although i love making cards i know there are easier and better ways with some of the things i do!!!!! So far it has been trial and error. I have made and sold quite a few cards ie: friends, craft fairs etc but although they are good,i know they could be much much better once i know the right way to use some of the tools. I have already looked at some of the threads on here and noticed how very clever and very helpful you all are, also how clear you are able to explain things so i know i am in the best place and look forward to meeting you all. I love all crafts and even tried my hand at a jewellery workshop (not for me though lol) I enjoy knitting too and i make/sell scarves and some handbags. Any and all help will be gratefully received once i get going so beware lol.

Hi and welcome from another card maker. I suspect most of us are self-taught as you say you are. It is a learning process and I think several of us have said before what a difference we see in the cards we make now to those we made, say, a couple of years ago. Good luck and welcome to the forum.

nice to see you here. I have 'doctored' the odd card but thats about it. I do admire those crafters that make them from scratch. Haven't got the patience. You are right, you will get so much help from forum members.

                        Cards by design

Thankyou all for this lovely welcome, much appreciated. I have not been able to do much card making for a while as i don't seam able to focus with such a lot going on in my life at the moment. My youngest daughter is agoraphobic, panic attacks and irrational thoughts and does not seam to be getting much better. I also have to deal with my younger sister having terminal cancer which is dreadful but as the cliche says " life goes on" i make all the cards for my family at the moment and i knit my egg cosies plus chicks in eggs,i have enough scarves to last a lifetime so they can wait lol. Card making is my passion though so i shall be asking for any tips, guidance or help where i can from you lovely people. I shall get on here as often as i can to keep up with all thats going on. Lovely to be here and thanks once again.

I'm sorry to hear about your sister. I recently lost my mum to cancer, I am so grateful to everyone on this forum for their help and support. I have good days and bad, and I am just picking up my crafting again.

Hi . Sorry to hear your sad news. Crafting and cardmaking especially for me helped me a huge amount and making them puts a smile on my face. Self taught here too, watching the telly demonstrations and reading magazines too. My first cards?! Oh dear, don't ask! It takes only a little while to pick up the techniques but just enjoy yourself...cut, stick and be happy

Hi munchbun! Great to find someone in my area! Sounds as though you have trodden a very simular path to me craft-wise. Do you belong to any craft groups? I've been a member of one for several years and always find their input quite useful. What sort of card-craft are you involved in at the mo? Iv'e been having a go at some pop-up designs. They vary quite a lot. Some of them are easy to follow but others are very difficult (when you're trying to teach yourself). Anyway, nice to meet you. Hope to hear from you when you have the time. Bye 4 now Patann
