  • The Little Kettle Company!

    Hi everyone,

I am just starting my own business in handmade crafts called The Little Kettle Company and I am selling lavender hearts, laundry bags, peg bags etc.

I am basing my designs on shabby chic and vintage, does anyone have any good places where you can order fabric, buttons and ribbons?

I live in Derbyshire and I would love to hear from anyone with any advise regarding how to set up my own website and where are the best craft fairs to attend around Derbyshire and Cheshire.

Many thanks and look forward to hearing from you soon

    Lucy

New to the forum but not new to crafts well less of me
Just some suggestions have you tried Car boots, Charity shops, Curtain type shops as they tend to have samples etc they sell off Ive had some good pieces of fabric for 50p before
          Good luck hunting.

            Hi and welcome Lucy!
I also sew and like to reuse old fabrics or offcuts as much as possible. Best places I find are the charity shops - great for chintzy curtains, even odd pillow cases! Also, curtain shops - I've found one locally that keeps a big stash of offcuts at the back of the shop. And I found a great fabric shop with a huge skip of end of roll fabrics selling the smaller cuts very cheap! Ebay is another good one - but you are unlikely to get any of the really nice vintage designs cheap as they are quite sought after.

and croeso from me in Wales! Good Luck with your venture and apologies about not being able to help out with info but have you looked down the list om the forum? You should be able to leave a question or pick up some info on threads referring to craft fairs where someone more local might pick up your query and help you out.
              Best Wishes,
              Txx

Hello and good luck! Brilliant name!

A lot of the Cheshire shows are run by Creative Crafts (google them as I don't think I can post urls yet!) and although I haven't been able to get any bookings through them (too much jewellery around), you may have better luck...
