  • Bath Bomb Issues

    Hi there

My name is Andy from the W- mids in the UK,

I have recently got into bath bomb-making as a hobby and for something for me and my daughters to do, however, I want to know how to avoid the following

1x bath bombs cracking when dried or drying
2x Can I used additional oil instead of water, witch hazel or alcohol to help bind them, as I have found that the oil itself helps to make it more like wet sand.
3x the recipe I have been trying is below any suggestions
    • 1 cup baking soda
    • 1/2 cup citric acid
    • 1/2 cup cornstarch or cornflower.
    • 3 tbsp of kaolin clay
    • 3 tbsp. of coconut oil
    • 1/2 to tbsp. of poly 80 fragrance
    • 1 tsp essential oil (lavender, eucalyptus, rose are all popular for the bath)
    • Mica powder to colour mixed in with the oil with some water swished around it to get the rest out.

Hello Andy and welcome to the Forum.

Well done for finding a hobby you can share with your daughters. Unfortunately, we're not the busiest forum around and none of the regular posters here are bath bomb makers as far as I know. However, it's likely there are a number of lurkers and someone may be able to offer you some advice if you are patient and wait for some of the less regular visitors to see your post.

Sadly, I know nothing about this particular craft and have no useful information to offer.

    Linda
