Try Freewebs.com - you can make a free site (with advertising) and upgrade to your own whenever you want. Seems a bit complicated at first, but you get the hang of it after a few snotty e mails to their tech section! Have a look at my site - it's a freewebs premium site (about £35 a year I think).

            Website

Free webs is a great starting point for getting some web presence.

many people start using them to get themselves going, test the water and go from there.

When you need something more - an established shopping cart etc we found that Actinic Catalog V7(www.actinic.co.uk) was great. we used them to make our website www.purethoughts.co.uk and i learnt everything from scratch(no web designer was gonna charge me a fortune!)With a little practice and a lot of patience you can get yourself going on the internet and increase those sales!!

            Good luck

              Hiya,

If you are after a shopping cart etc for your website then try os commerce - it's free and there are lots of forums to answer questions if you get stuck! My husband is slowly using it to change our website over so that we can actually sell stuff rather than just advertise what we have!! Also if you need web hosting then we have a really good deal - pm if you want info.

Hi Lynsey! I've been eyeing up OS Commerce but it does scare me abit with all that php coding. Do you recommend any good OS Commerce forums?

Good luck with your site pitstop!

I've sent an email to hubby's friend and I'll let you know when he replies. There is a community page on www.oscommerce.com and I'm sure that they will be able to help. If not try google - they have always come up trumps for me when I have wanted to find something!

                        Hi,
Mark got back to me and his advice is as follows -

Go to www.oscommerce.com and click on solutions
and on network, then wade through the reams of info!

He also said that oscommerce is the best supported out there - there are other but he recommends that one because there is so much help and advice.

Good luck with the site - we are hoping to change our site over to oscommerce soon (well my husband is!) so if you want updates as to how it's going them pm me!!
