  • I'm a newbie!

    Hi all,

So, i've finally plucked up courage to say hello to you all in the world of crafting! A little bit about me: I've been making my jewellery since last year and it's luckily going ok, if selling a little slower than I would like! I create jewellery from reclaimed vintage, retro and other recycled beads and bits&bobs I find, so there are rarely any repeats made. Does anyone know of any craft fairs around hampshire/west sussex?

    Many thanks!

Hello and welcome to the forum, everyone here is very friendly.

There is a craft market held at The Bargate in Southampton on the first Saturday of every month. You can call Jackie the Market Manager on 07515 797878. Tell her I sent you.

    Hope this helps.

        A welcome reply!

Thanks for the welcome! I'm not entirely sure how this all works as yet, but sure I will get the hang of it eventually!
Thanks also for the Southampton craft fair number! I think it may be a little too far for me to travel that distance at the moment, but I will definatley keep it in mind for the future!

What kind of jewellery do you make Sprinkles?

Hello and welcome to the forum. Swirlyarts is our recycle queen and makes jewellery out of bits and bobs too - I have to admit her things are fantastic so you two will have a lot to chat about.

            Cheers.

Thanks for telling me about Swirlyarts, I think her stuff is fab. Mine is not half as creative, but it's stilll early days. I particularly spe******e in jewellery, however you never know I may find myself broadening my skills as I get more confident over time!

We all have to start somewhere and it's too easy to compare yourself unfavourably against other people, especially in such a varied arena as crafting: I felt that my work was basic in comparison to lots of what I saw on the Forum when I was starting out. My work has developed immensely over the last 9 month or so that I've been actively crafting, and I can see a real change in my approach and style.

Best of luck with all of your endeavours and you'll receive plenty of support here.

                      Si.
