Do you think people would actually prefer valentine themed jewellery when they go to a valentine jewellery fair?

Im going to be making more things but not sure if i should do more hearts and stuff just because its a valentine fair.

I would probably do just a small display if it were me but I am totally inexperieced at this.

Maybe you could make some small items with hearts (Phone charms etc.) and then offer it as a free gift if they purchase a larger "more expensive" item of jewellery.

Perhaps others could comment on my ideas cause as I mentioned I am a pure novice here.

to be honest i walked round a jewellery only fair last valentines time and it was awful. People had gone all out to make things pink, fluffy and hearts. It was like looking into a huge sea of PINK PINK PINK and i think put off a lot of people who went in.

Wasnt that busy anyway but i spoke to a couple of visitors i knew and they didnt like much of the stock as evertyhing was so similar. Maybe go for something completely different. Black and goths i tihnk.

Any type of jewellery is a nice gift for valentine's I doesn't have to be themed. I use a lot of heart beads anyway in my earrings, but wouldn't think it's just for valentines.

I would imagine it would be men buying jewellery for women for a valentines gift and I'm sure most men would be put off pink and fluffy stuff, although they may think that's what women want.

I would just sell your normal stuff, it's lovely anyway and maybe put a bit of themed decor on your stall.

I love hearts anytime of the year but do not like pink or red so would suggest a compromise. Use some heart shapes but perhaps different colours and cater for those wanting non themed jewellery.

I have heart jewellery in stock all year, so will slightly increase the amount (with a new design or two), but that's all. I'll focus on it for promotion purposes, but that's all.

              Ooooh thanks

Wow I am picking up ideas today. I have packed up my heart shaped cutters and will have a go at making a mould for my kiln to make heart shaped cabs.

Maybe a few of those I could incorporate into my designs.

              Thank you
              Take care

As stated earlier, people do like hearts any time of year, I have even had people asking me if I make glass hearts.

That said, I wouldn't recommend hearts only just because its valentines.

You certainly need to cater for all sorts of tastes. Hearts do not have to be red or pink. I certainly wouldn't buy these colours. I used to sell alot of blue (with silver foil) glass hearts.

I think nowadays, people are looking for such unusual and very different things. The more unusual the better.

Good luck to those who are going to the fair
                Take care

                  Valetines Crafts

I have several pieces of jewellery with hearts in them and they sell all year round. I would have a couple of items with hearts but it doesn't have to be red/pink. Not everyone is looking for those colours I have green/brown/red/pink/blue. Have just bought some lilac and slate coloured ones to add into the stock.

You could always get some heart shaped confetti to go on the table or in the gift boxes.

                  Hope these suggestion help

Well i decided to visit this bead store in Stockbridge that Peter is always on about and i spent £14 on beads, mostly heart ones.....lol. Though £3 of that was SS round beads and £3 was 2 large murano foil heart pendants.

Was a nice shop, though easy to spend money in!!

I think il stick to my usual way but add in a few hearts. I bought all sorts of colours!

I think the jewellery colour that I would buy would be a bit dependant on what I'm buying it for. I quite like deep red stuff but wouldn't necessarily want hearts, go with variety!

I agree. People are generally just looking for things that make nice gifts, they don't all have to be valentines themed. But one or two items with hearts won't hurt if you happen to have some.

I think a mixture is a good idea - some people will want to buy specific heart-based gifts, others will just want something nice for their other half so a collection of Valentine's goods mixed with your usual stuff should work a treat

Love all the ideas people have said and yes i agree going all out just for valentines can be off putting,as its put in your face like anything from major retailers like card shops etc all we seem to see is red and pinks and fluffy cuddly things lol.

Your right hearts are for any time of the year no matter the occasion. I love the idea for Gothic style red and blacks that has definitely got me thinking now on new designs. I will admit i have done a few pieces of jewellery for valentines with Fimo Tatty Teddy Charms on and a few heart charms, but getting stuck now for ideas, as i dont want it all to be hearts and red/pink. So seeing this has given me alot of inspiration, and i think Gothic style jewellery is lovely.
