  • Might be picking your craft brains

I must be mad but I have agreed to run a local childrens craft group after Christmas. I have been taking dd to a local group where they do a craft, have a snack and sing some songs. The lady that organises it is giving it up for another venture so I have volunteered to run it after christmas with some helpers. I'm going to have to think of a craft activity each week for toddlers. Am I mad???? If I run out of ideas I know where to come....

If I'm honest I can't wait, I think it going to be great fun.

Aww you'll have great fun.. just remember to rope enough volunteers in to help.
I used to help out at a group for disabled children through my work and we did loads of crafts with them, had a great time getting messy haha!!

      Pick all you want!!!

I've got a 2 and 4 year old so more or less 'qualified' to help and Swirly's are similar ages and I bet she has some really fab ideas

One I can think of at the moment - when my eldest was younger, his room at nursery used to make a massive jelly in a big tray and let them 'construct' things out of it!! The pics of them messing were totally fab and he really loved it! Plus they stripped off to just nappies and got stuck in!!

You could get loads of cheap jellies cos the kids will no doubt end up tasting them!!

As an ex reception/year one teacher I have lots of ideas too!! There is a great teaching ideas website that I'll try and find for you - I haven't used it for ages but I'll have a look Also have a look on Cbeebies - Mr Maker has good ideas as does Tikkabilla and Smarteenies. The website is good too www.bbc.co.uk/cbeebies If you don't mind them getting dirty too I know how to make slime!!

        Hope this helps!

Thanks girls. I have organised two other definate helpers and one of the people that is doing it atm is staying on I think. I agree that cbeebies website is a great place to start for ideas, my two love Mr Maker. I do have quite a few ideas already and I shall be making some list of ideas before I start. I'll hold fire on the slim recipe for now, does sound like great fun ,though the parents might not like me afterwards
