  • Hello! About my leather course :)

    Hello Everybody!
It's been a while since I was last on here. I have been a busy bee trying to expand ZukieStyle.
Last month I attended my leather course, which a few of you may remember I was very excited about. And I cannot recommend it enough. Val, the lady who ran it was lovely and really catered for our needs. There were 5 of us on the course all wanting to learn different things. It was in the lovely little town of Tetbury in the cotswolds and was nice to spend some time learning again Val talked us through the process of tanning the leather, how to bevell and burnish right through to using the traditional handtools and saddlers stitching techniques.
    I made a bag:
    And a doggy collar:
I had intended to blog about the process, but unfortunetly my b&b only had internet access on the landing. But I have taken lots of pics of how I got from a piece of leather to my finished pieces, so for those who are interested I will be blogging this week.
I am now hoping to use handstitched leather goods as my main products as it is so satisfying (and hard work!) to achieve the finished item. I won't be able to do the bigger bags just yet as will need to invest in a machine to skive the leather but my doggy products I have already started on

Sorry to babble on but I hope you find this of as much interest as me!
Anyway off to see what I've missed from the forum, speak soon

    xx

        Hello
Can't wait to see your leather bags. Would love to do a similar course - leather must be so nice to work with. But machine, set-up and training costs are a bit out of my reach at the mo'. Am really looking forward to seeing what you produce though.

Like the dog collar, possibly a bit big for our little terrier though!
