  • Really nervous!

I'm doing a craft market tomorrow and all of a sudden I'm really nervous...I've been so busy making sure I have enough stock and getting everything else organised I haven't really thought about actually being there!

It's not my first event but it's been a while since I've done one, I know I have everything ready (I've written myself a list and checked it all off about 3 times last night and will do another 5 or 6 tonight!) I'm just paranoid I'm going to forget something when I'm half asleep in the morning...my friends and family are being quite supportive but they don't realise how much time and effort it takes to prepare for these things and if I hear a flippant 'you'll be fine' one more time I may have to scream!!

    You'll be rubbish.

You'll have spinach on your teeth, a stain down your front, you'll take your holiday Euro stash instead of your float, your table will break and no-one but no-one will look at your stuff cos there'll be a plastic crud stall right next door - everything for free, 2 for a penny!

Now shut up and enjoy the rest of the afternoon!

You are not alone - everyone gets nervous when doing a fair after a brief break and it is perfectly normal to have that 'I'm forgetting something' feeling! As long as you remember your tables & chairs (if they aren't provided), gazebo (if needed), cloths, display stands, products, float, bags, business cards and a happy smile then everything else could be done without if really necessary.

I had a show a couple of years ago where we were running late to set up on the morning it opened (it was an hour drive) and just before we arrived I realised that I had forgotten the tablecloths - cue quick trip to a supermarket for some cheap fitted sheets which were used instead (and actually worked really well so I kept using them for another year and a half!)

I used to have a check list but it has now changed so much I don't bother but your post has prompted me to think about putting together another one ready for the next 'stupid o'clock' morning this Sunday (my brain doesn't fully wake up until mid-morning!) Might be an idea to help not go into panic mode and often spurs you into remembering something else that you might have forgotten about...

          Good luck with your fair.
