  • It's going to be a sizzling Sunday

Well we can dream, good morning crafters

Hope all those who did fairs yesterday do well and the same for today. My 'To Do' list is not shrinking keep getting diverted onto something else and some has to be done to a dealine, adverts etc so must get a wriggle on.

Just finished my trousers and kaftan this morning, still need to put something round the yoke line of the kaftan but out of all my oodles of supplies just do not have the right trim, that's my excuse and am sticking to it.

Have a great Sunday everyone and make the most of the weather as back to Autumn next week.

Good morning Caroline. I was going to start this for you today but got waylaid, sorry. Lovely weather. I do have to go out but not for long. The rest of the day I think will be coffee, wine and sewing in the sunshine as I have tons of hand sewing to do.

Morning Caroline, Carole, Anna and everyone else. It's very warm here today, but no sun. Been catching up on the chores this morning.

We had a disasterous day yesterday - we set off for Telford Bead Show and the car decided to break down just outside of Telford. By the time we got the car fixed and working again, we decided just to head back home. Will have to do some online shopping to make up for what I couldn't buy yesterday !

Hope everyone has a good Sunday

          I don't think it'll get over 41 here today...

Today I am starting over with the Santa hats for my felted armadillos. Got a whole new plan of attack.

I also need to practice today on sewing books together - my granddaughter has made numerous fairy drawings and written numerous undecipherable passages about them, and we need to get them bound together.

I have lost most all of my garden in this awful drought (despite the recent rain - one rainy night does not repair drought damage) so I am fighting for my pumpkin patch!!

I have even lost some lavender! That just sickens me. No flowers of any sort for homegrown potpourri this fall. No lavender wands. Sigh.

I can perhaps harvest a small bag of lavender for you if it will help.

I know it is hot and sunny outside, but give me a thought as I am working today. Luckily the old building I am in remains cool during summer (freezing in winter). Everyone thinks I have airconditioning, but no the lack of insulation means it gets cold overnight and never gets as warm as outside. How I wish I was outside selling and enjoying this excellent weather for a couple of days.

Thanks, Carol honey, but I'm not sure you could...I'm not sure botanical things can be sent across the pond in either direction...my middle child took some bluebonnet seeds (the Texas State Flower - lupines) to her French family years ago when she was at the U of Lyon, and they freaked out...I think they actually burned them!

Actually, my potpourri never sells anyway, so I am looking at it as being relieved of one "great idea" this fall, and just focusing on my soap, candles, and felted things. Maybe my cards. Maybe my paper beads, maybe my solid perfumes...oh heck, do I get distracted with too many crafts or what!! Focus... focus...focus....

Roger - how nice...I'll be right over! Our central air conditioning struggles in these hot, hot temps. And gosh is it expensive. Can't win fer losin'! =P

We know a family near here who built an underground house and it is SO cool all summer!! And amazingly, not that cold in the winter.

Too hot for me, I'm afraid, although it is nice to see the sunshine. I've just been out to one of my favourite cafes in Derbyshire with a friend, for a coffee and scone, sitting in the shade with a fabulous view.

Otherwise, it's a fairly lazy day for me, as I'm quite tired after yesterdays Big Bead Show. What a shame you didn't get there, Angie

Hope you're finding some way to keep a bit cool, Susan.

I hate the heat. It's about 29 here in Surrey at the moment and blazing sunshine. I'm Irish, I have red hair and very pale skin, and I just don't do sun. I need mist and fog and snow.

What a fantastic day it has been. No crafting, a little gardening, but lots of lounging, reading and thinking (well , not much thinking).

I understand it is going to be pretty good tomorrow too - although rain on the way. I shall be shut in a stuffy classroom - lucky for me though I teach in the one and only room on campus that has air conditioning!

Jill, I am so jealous - I will be stuck in a non-aircon office with people who refuse to open windows no matter how boiling hot or stuffy it is, and who even complain if people have fans on their desks! It's supposed to be 32 in London tomorrow, I'm dreading it.

Big apologies Heather - I know what it is like. My staff room (very large open-plan area) is full of people who refuse to open the windows, yet choose to have their desk by one! I am an early bird, and always open lots of windows when I get in - only to find about 2 hours later that most have been closed! Idiots.

Temperature just right for me today as long as there is no rushing about to do. We went off to Salisbury this morning and I got treated to lunch, ooohhhh such a luxury. Did a bit of shopping then back home to lounge in the garden with a glass of wine. Back to work tomorrow, fortunately my office is on the cool side of the building and I can have my fan on too, so as long as I don't drop off in the afternoon lull about 3pm should be ok !!

Well today I have been indoors at a fair under a glass roof - I have a stonking migraine and both hubby and I feel very ill after suffering unbearable heat all day with no fresh air. Even the customers didn't want to hang around as it was too uncomfortable. Therefore a rough day all around - not too good on the takings front but hopefully all the people who were interested but couldn't stand the heat will visit me online as they took my details away with them...

Just trying to cool down and chill out now...
