  • Shake and vac

Just used some shake and vac on my carpet in the front room cos Tara had been sick on it when she was ill. However, now I have a very horrid chemical smell in my front room that smells vaguely of oranges. I've opened my windows but it still stinks!! So I don't do this again, has anybody got any ideas for natural smelling things to sprinkle on my carpet? I know that Bicarb is supposed to remove smells but does it work?
    Thanks
    Lynsey

Erm.... I know milk will get ink out of carpet
        Have you tried lemon juice?
If its that good ole regurgitated milk smell then you have my deepest sympathy. Samuel is nearly 4 and he can be sick virtually upon command.......

I wrecked a hideous rug many moons ago by using shake and vac - you ought to see what it does to the reverse side

Good luck with offending smell removal - I will be very interested to hear how you get on

When Mia was sick the other night on the rug i couldn't find any cleaner suitable so i used a large can of car seat valeting mousse i got from motorworld. It brought the rug up a treat with no traces of the sick smell plus the smell of the mousse was very nice, like a new car smell. Not natural but i was very thankful to have it at the time.

I'd not thought of car stuff - thanks. The sicky smell seems to have gone - just got a revolting chemically orange smell instead! I'll just have to get Matt to get the Vax out at the weekend - I pretend not to know how to use it - bless him he keeps offering to show me but I tell him it's his job!

I don't really use shake and vac anymore - came to the conclusion it is just something else that I need to hoover up - and I hate hoovering up. I generally just go over the sick bit with some plain old water and a vanish soap bar - that stuff is brilliant - it even got Irn Bru stains out of my carpet - that stuff is toxic!!!.

              Cheers.

That stuff IS toxic - I haven't had it for a few years - I used to have it as Girders - a scottish friend I know put me onto those!!

The smell isn't quite as chemically this morning so a day with the windows open should sort it out!
