  • Run away - the 80's are coming!

I've just been watching a fashion feature on breakfast TV which tells us that 80's fashion is making a comeback and showing us what we can buy on the high street that has (gulp) big shoulders, asymetrics, ruffles, nipped in waists and big hips. Interesting trend and I might consider adding some 80's themed jewellery to my stock - I used to love those feather necklaces and earrings that were around!!

I have such strong memories of the 80's fashion (I was in my teens) but wondered what others remember. My favourite item was a cobalt blue ruffly ra-ra skirt which I used to wear constantly with a white ruffled cotten blouse. What was your favourite item (if you were there!)?

Ooh I loved the 80's, I was into the "New Romantics" frilly shirts, headbands and fingerless lacy gloves, I also had a pair of MC Hammer type trousers, I loved them! And then later on in the 80's, I worked in an office and loved the "power dressing" my suits all had huuuuge shoulderpads.

I've just been invited to a Fancy Dress party in the summer which is an 80's theme, was wondering where on earth I'd get anything to wear, but if it's making a comeback, should be easy! But then it won't feel like fancy dress!

I think, on the whole, it should be left in the 80's don't you?

I can't say I lovede any one thing I had in the 80's - well maybe my "Frankie Says" t-shirt but I loved purple (I still do) and I had purple coat, purple skirts, purple blouses, purple gloves!!!

I did have two jackets I wore quite a lot one was black and the other was white. Sort of Adam and the Ants type pirate jacket that buttoned up the side and the buttons ran along my collar bone type thing so that when you opened the buttons up it made a big triangle shaped flap thingy.

              Cheers.

I was a teenager in the late 80's (left school 1990), and a bit of a goth/rocker for most of that time so the later stuff passed me by!
Early 80s I was a kid so didnt get much say! I really wanted a black ra ra with 3 tiers like my best friend, but Mum would only let me have a white/pink/blue one with 2 tiers (so babyish)!
I alos remember spliting my peddlepushers up the back at a FAME dance party at a friends house - so embarassing!
So the 80s were not good to me!

OMG, I'd forgotten about the plastic jewellery! Just remembered a pair of big plastic hoops I had which I used to wear with a straw hat to the local Tiffanys! And my 'Frankie says....Arm the Unemployed' t-shirt which I wore when I went for my first interview at the Army Careers Office when I was 17!
