  • Fancy Dress Help

My Daughter in Law informed us on Christmas Day that she is having a fancy dress party for her 30th birthday on 13th Jan.

I've got 2 weeks (and not much money) to think of an outfit.

Any ideas would be very welcome bearing in mind I'm 58 and a size 18.
I started off with nothing and I've still got most if left.

I won a fancy dress years ago with my home made clown outfit. No-one was more surprised than me! Easy to make from old junk though.

I would suggest a Victorian lady, long skirt and high necked blouse, or a serving wench, same long skirt, gathered neck blouse as low as you want and a mob cap - easily made with a circle of fabric and a bit of elastic.
or Florence Nightingale - black outfit, pinny, nurses hat and a small lamp.
Gypsy/ fortune teller - big earrings and lots of chunky jewellery and colourful scarves round your waist, head and shoulders.
I'll let you know if I think of any others.
