There be treasure in them there wardrobes, A'ha!

Had to share this with you all (I know it's not just me with a button fetish!)

Yesterday DH was ripping out some old wardrobes in the back bedroom. He hadn't been up there long when he came running down the stairs shouting "Oi, babe, I've found you some treasure!"

Hiding in a dark and inaccessible corner he found this old Oliver Twist themed toffee tin. Interesting enough in itself really but.................

Just look what was hiding inside! Buttons, buttons, buttons!!!

He's still got three more units to rip out so who knows? Maybe he'll find more treasure. A load of ribbon perhaps. Vintage spools? I'm not usually very lucky so I doubt it but you never know!

      Ooh pretty!
My Grandma had a tin full of beautiful buttons, when I was little I used to tip them all out and pretend they were pennies and I'd use them to buy sweets off my grandma. Ahh memories!

Quick question...being a bit thick! I know that OH stands for other half, but what does DH stand for? I've noticed a few people post it before, and I can't for the life of me figure it out!

What a fab find, well done hubby.

My nan used to have a button tin too which I used to love going through and my DD used to love going my small box of buttons when she was little too.

Many many years ago when I was a little girl, we used to play "Button a go" the kids from streets around would get involved. We set up little stalls on the pavement with chalked squares with numbers in them, The punter would throw a button , and If they were lucky enough to land in a square without touching the sides they won that amount of buttons, Some cut shapes out of cornflake boxes and you won if you could throw a button through the holes, For 2 buttons you could ride up and down the street on a boagey cart pulled by the vendor. All kind of stalls lined the street. Enormous fun. And guess what ? I still have a large tin of buttons of all kinds. LOL a crafter just cant throw anything out eh? xxx

Ha ha ha! You see everyone else thinks I mean Dear Hubby (which is what it really means) but I have another meaning for it which suits my man quite well! Rhymes with thick head!
