  • Is it just me...

...or does it take anyone else FOREVER to put all their stuff on websites????

Whilst I'm messing about with my 'real' website I've decided to put a load of stuff on DaWanda as it's free to list at the mo (I think!!) and I can link from my website to it. But it just takes sooooooo long and I have sooooo mcuh stuff! I've only done a handful of cards - still got LOADs more to do and not even thought about my FIMO or jewellery yet! Aaah! I have too much stuff!

It does take ages, and it is quite a boring thing to do!

I think web sites are always a 'work in progress', I keep tweaking mine all the time. Just found today that paypal have revised their shopping cart so if you have 1 of an item or 2 or 3, you can log this info. Once the last item has been sold Paypal reflects this as a sold item in the shopping cart and you get an email to this effect. Brilliant and long awaitied. Sorry digressed a bit, I think that it seems easier on Dwanda etc as the sites are already up and running, now that I have my relevant templates have found that it only takes minutes to load but it took a long time to get there.

        Good Luck

          Just think....

I suspect it takes us all ages....... but think positively having loads to add is a good think. Thats loads of potential sales isn't it?

Have another cup of tea and the time will fly by.....

It takes me forever, i have stock in my stock room that isn't on site and has been sat there for two weeks

I am terrible with the images and this is a major stumbling block - I have the photo cube, I have the camera, I have the editing programmes, I just take bad bad images and i don't know how i can take a lovely photo of the kids or whatever but when i want a close up of a bottle of something it looks so bad.

I keep in telling myself not to add new lines cause it is so stressful but i decided to add at least 15 new lines this month

I think that i need to emply someone to take images and add the info for me - crikey why didn't i think of that before I used to have someone doing my images then decided it was more cost effective considering the range to do it all myself.

Then i get emails from my webman asking did i mean to have an image of my children on the site somewhere - it was actually logged in the data base and not visible on the site BUT i must have added it to the site at some time

My main headache is images too! I'm not great at taking photos and then there's all the altering of the images to upload them to my site or etsy!
I too find adding all the products a bit of a headache too, especially on etsy but cut and paste is my friend!
Do a few at a time so you don't get too bored, that would be my advice!

Yeah it's just been delayed sooo much all the time and I've not got any fairs booked in becuase, well, I HATE them and there doens't seem to be many around at the mo that I'm trying to focus on my web stuff. Have taken the advice of stop waiting for everything to be perfect, just get on and get something out there!

Was quite good over the week end and got allmy FIMO stuff ready to go, just need to get my cards sorted and then upload it all. Want to put some more on DaWanda as well - free listings - I figure it can't hurt!

I know what you mean about images - I think once I've got eveything up on the website I'm actually going to go through and re-do all the pics once again - bit silly way of doing it I know, it's jsut that I want to make a start and get some stuff up before Christmas!

Glad to hear that its not only us that struggle with web selling! We stopped selling on the net because, the time it took was not cost effective.
I have been thinking of talking to one of the firms that handle the whole thing for you. There is one in Huddersfield that seem to be very good at it, has anyone tried this, the costs will be higher but without the time to do it ourselves it seems the only option.

Back when I used to ebay for a living, I found myself constantly in front of the pc doing auctions , in no way did the sale price of my items reflect how much time I spent on the ebay shop so gave myself set hours to work on ebay ,what I didn't get done in that time had to wait for the next day unless it was a custom order.

Mmmm I totally understand wwhat people are saying about how much time it takes but I keep thinking about how much time it takes getting ready for craft fairs and then sitting there twiddling my thumbs and wasting money! So I thought I'd give website a go - at elast this way, I still work full time so even if it's slow goign for a while, I'm not losing anything. Craft fairs are good when they make you a profit though but I just can't be doing with them and there just doesn't seem to be any round my way - even leading up to Christmas!

As for companies who di it for you - I've not ahd that for my own company but in a previous job, worked with a company who did that sort of thing - seemed to be more hassle then anything! But then I'm a control freak about it all! If you did that, just make sure it's a good company!

Moan away, thats what we are here for. It lightens the load a bit if you share it. I started a blog weeks and weeks ago. I got as far as my name and one item that I had made and couldn't get any further. I keep going on and having another look but in reality, I'm lost. Must get some help somewhere. At least you have successfully achieved that.

Oh dear! Why are you lost? Is it a time thing (in which case I can't help) or is there something you don't understand? I'm a total techno thickie as we know, but I have managed to get going with my blog - thanks to help from Buffy - but is there anything we can do to help???
