  • My camera is no more :(

Well it seems my camera has died on me. When I turn it on, I just get a white screen on the display. Luckily I was able to download the 75 photos of our holiday on the memory card onto the pc, but I can no longer take pics or view anything. It's a Sony Cyber-shot so I did expect it to last a wee bit longer.

So, I'm in search for a new camera that doesn't cost the earth. I do like Sony, but if anyone can recommend a good camera, I would really appreciate it. I will mainly be taking pictures of my jewellery (and of course my kiddies), so was wondering what everyone else use?

I know this shouldn't be difficult, but I like my gadgets so want to buy the shiniest ones, but can't afford them. So something affordable, but good quality.

my camera is a kodak one. We got ours really cheap end of range at Jessops last year. It was the display model and cost us £50. It should have been over £150 full price but they wanted rid of it. We're really happy with it.

I have a Cybershot too. It's been a fab little camera up until recently but now it's starting to play up so I think I'll be on the look out for a new one soon too. OH has got an £800 camera 'cos he's a bit of a photography boffin but I'm afraid to touch it! He's pretty good at sorting the wheat from the chaff when it comes to shopping for cameras so I'll ask him what he'd recommend when he gets in from work. (which will be any minute now so I'd better get off this pooter and start tea!)

          Thanks for all your recommendations.

Sarah, I checked some reviews on the fuji finepix s5800 and people seem to like it. I've also had a look at your photos on your blog and etsy shop, and they are very clear. Photos with my cybershot have been really fuzzy. And all the photos of my baby girl right after she was born are all rubbish So not sure if I want to get another cybershot.

RC, any recommendations your hubby can give would be great Can you please ask him about the fuji finepix s5800 as per Sarah's suggestion? I don't need anything too high tech. Something just over £100 (or under if possible) and I don't need to print large photos, so I don't know if I really need anything more than 7mega pixels. But I do need clear photos of my jewellery so detail is essential.
