  • Extra Bank Holiday

    Apols for long post but I've just received this from my local business networking group about a petition to approve an extra bank holiday in November - if you're at all interested, please have a looksee and the link to sign the petition is at the bottom - cheers, Shaz x

    Number 10 Downing Street has approved a petition that was launched requesting a new public holiday falling on the Monday after Remembrance Sunday in November each year. To be known as the National Remembrance Holiday, it's got three aims:
    1. To emphasise the remembrance of those servicemen and women who have given, and continue to give, their lives for Britain
    2. To remind people of the importance of protecting our Nation and what it stands for;
    3. To break that 3 month period between the August Public Holiday and Christmas when there are currently no long weekends, especially as the UK has fewer public holidays than most European Countries.
    If you agree to the idea, please sign up to the petition - it doesn't take long - and it would be great if you were to forward the link to other people as well. If you are not interested, just ignore this. This is not just about another bank holiday, but more importantly about having a designated day to remember all those people that sacrificed their lives for our freedom. THIS IS A NOTABLE PETITION THAT THE GOVERNMENT HAVE ASKED FOR PLEASE SIGN IF YOU WANT AN EXTRA BANK HOLIDAY.

            we have no shortage of bank holidays here, too many in fact!
            and on top of hat we have all the local ones, and village Saints days!, mor time off school! The kids take the days off when we have our saints days, and also have days off when it's the saints days for the village they go to school in! and planning shopping trips can be awkward, as need to check that town/village is actually open that day!!

            Then there's the school holidays! remember tearing my hair out wondering what to do with the little angels during 6 weeks.. here they get the WHOLE summer off 3months ( give or take a day or so!!) No half terms though!
