  • Im officially a fuddy duddy!

Sat here at work I looked out the window and saw a street light where the casing is hanging off.The light runs alongside a busy road and I thought if it fell off it may be dangerous.

I have just emailed the local street light people to sort it out.

32 years old, going on 80.
Il be writing to Watchdog or Points of View next.

Anybody else do this sort of stuff?

I wouldn't say your a fuddy duddy at all just very thoughtful!!! You were thinking of someone getting whacked on the head if the lamp fell off which I think is brill thinking of other people.

      Cheers.

It's the age of technology, making everything more accessible to people, including complaining.

Would you have seriously complained about it if you had to pick up a phone, get placed on hold for 10 minutes, then have to actually speak to someone? More to the point, would you have written a letter, put a stamp on it and taken it to the little red box on the corner?

I rarely carry cash, let alone stamps! I try to buy everything on the internet so I don't have to go to shops and if I can't find it by typing it into google, it doesn't exist!

I'm 32 going on 80 too I think. Our friends little girl (who's 7) loves the Bratz but I refuse to buy her anything Bratz related for birthdays or Christmas cos I think they look like hookers, oh and they say "whatever" and "girlfriend" in a bloomin' American accent which she now copies. Whatever happened to gold old Sindy that's what I want to know, didn't get things like that in my day blah blah.

OMG at what age is it acceptable to start sounding like you mother?

You have never met my OH obviously!! He is a web developer in his day job but.. he will complain about anything in whatever form he can. Recently we had a problem with a manhole cover to the side of our house..long story cut short, a runner stepped on it and went down up to his knee as the lid was loose. I phoned the council (as that was the only way to contact them!) and they fobbed me off with 'it's a new housing estate and the roads haven't been adopted..not our problem!' That wasn't good enough for Ian. He wrote a rather long letter telling them that he didn't care about their responsibilities, he now had a letter proving that he had told them about the cover and when a child fell down it it would be their fault! Well it worked they came round and mended it, not particularly well I might add, but it is done!! He is 'Victor Meldrew' at 36! So Seahorse you are not alone!!!

Ooooh, blue tape? He must have been taught general maintenance at the same place as my grandparents. Visit their house and there is a remote control with black tape around it, a cd player (yes, they own CDs!) with black tape around it, the telephone has black tape around it..... the list goes on. It's a classy look, no doubt about it!
