  • Feeling a bit worried

I've had a red painful eye all weekend and can't tollerate any bright light or sunshine so on hubby's insistance I went to the doctors this morning. She shone lights into it (god that hurt) and put yellow dye in it (god that really really hurt!) and has said it might be Iritis and has made me an appointment this afternoon at the Emergency Eye Clinic at Addenbrookes hospital To see a spe******t the same day is a little worrying...I'm currently resisting the urge to google it as we all know how much worse you feel after looking up an illness on the internet.

    Hmm....

    ...yes, definitely a little worrying.

BUt would you rather have it seen to asap and treated, or have to wait in the NHS queue? I think they see to things like eyes PDQ because eyes are important things.

We had much the same situation when Himself found a lump where lumps have no place being. He was in for a scan that same day, and everything was fine!

YOU'LL BE FINE!!! I know you will....please try not to worry. Chin up!

No you're absolutely right, if the appointment was for a few weeks time I'd have all that time to get myself in a right tizzy worrying if it's serious or not. At least this way I'll know quickly and get any treatment needed right away.

On the plus side (for hubby) he's used the situation to get the afternoon off work "I've got to take my wife to the emergency eye clinic this afternoon" what he failed to mention to them is that my appointment isn't until 6pm this afternoon - cheeky bugger!

              You'll be fine i'm sure..
To save you looking up google and getting worried iritis is basically inflamation of the iris... can be treated really easily with eyedrops to reduce inflamation and get rid of pain.
Think it's just one of thaose bizarre conditions that people get, sometimes reoccurs but often there'res no real explanation for why.
They will probably say you've got it after a virus, that's usually the answer for everything!!
Anyway at least you will get it treated which is the main thing!!
              Good luck!!

                      Silly Me....

...was just going to ask we'd heard any news, then saw that it's only ten to seven - Natty will still be at the eye clinic. Doh!

It feels really late to me.....must be the darker evenings.

Thank you all for you concern . Well I’m back and typing through very blurry eyes due to the drops and cream the spe******t put in them but the good news it isn’t Iritis.

Apparently I had a very tiny foreign object (John’s convinced it was glitter) stuck in there which for whatever reason wasn’t budging the usual way and had caused an infection. She put some numbing drops in my eye and then scrapped the surface of the eyeball (yuk ) to remove the object and then flipped my eyelid inside out (double yuk) to clean that. I’ve got steroid and antibiotic eye drops plus some eye ointment I need to use for a week which will hopefully sort it all out.

Glad that’s all over with although looking forward to my attempts at applying eye drops as I’m too squeamish even for contact lenses
