  • Potential job, kind words needed please

Ive been redundant for nearly 2 years.About a year ago I made enquiries about a sewing job but my concern is they were looking for someone to work with outdoor materials which Ive never done, so I didnt persue it.

Over a year later I get an email out of the blue the other day from the same people saying they are looking for a textile worker.BBQ covers, cushion bags etc
Can you believe they remembered me!!!??

I still have concerns that its working with outdoor materials but seeing as the opportunity has landed in my lap it seem silly to pass it up.

Im such a fraidy cat in life in general and interviews are one of my worst nightmares.I plan on emailing back this afternoon but any comforting words would be greatly appreciated, alternatively a kick up the bum and a 'what the heck are you waiting for?' will suffice.

    Just ask yourself one question:

What have I got to lose by just grabbing it by the throat and going for it?

OK, it may not work out for you, these things happen, but you don't want to spend time saying 'I wish I had given it a try'

Lost of good luck to you and I hope it works out well

Think of it like this: You're not going to the interview for them to judge you (you know how good you are) - most importantly you're going to find out if THEY AND THEIR JOB are what YOU want (and are able) to do. Be confident, and if they're not suitable for you, then you can decide not to do it.

The only thing to fear is fear itself! Good luck x

If you go for it and don't get it you are no worse off than you are now, if you don't go for it you will never know. You are in a win win situation aren't you. You can't lose anything and may possibly get a job. If it turns out that you are working with outdoor materials then you will also be learning something new. Is it really that much different to working with indoor materials? I don't know but learning a new skill is always useful isn't it? Go for it girl

          Thanks for your wise words.
Ive drafted a reply asking if I can visit and see the materials, so it sounds less scary than , yep, Il come in for an interview.
Im doing my deep breathing as I type.

Go on, you will thoroughly enjoy it, and if you don't you have lost nothing.

Go for it as everyone has said you have nothing to lose and everything to gain by at least going to see them. Here is another one if it helps Mo.XX

                That's funny, Mo!

Okay, such good advice already, so that I will only say that you are a wonderful person and they'll love you!! Just be yourself!! Have fun with it!! And yes, do lots of slow deep breathing...and some smile therapy.

Good luck with it ! As everyone has said, you have nothing to lose, and something to gain. I think if you ask for the visit, it's a sign to them that you're taking it seriously and an opportunity for an informal chat. And surely they would teach you if it's materials you've not used before?
