Wonder how long it took some of them to think of the excuses and if the homework was creative writing, perhaps they would have got an A if they wrote it down!!!

Nice to see that 'The dog ate it' excuse is still alive and well! I remember kids trying that one when I was at school!

I am very impressed, and a little alarmed, that there are goldfish who cope so well out of water that they have time to find and eat homework.

My son has tried the 'printer was out of ink' one and with the logic he sometimes uses I could totally imagine him saying he put it in the fridge but had toast instead AND getting annoyed when that wasn't accepted as a reasonable excuse!

Sad to say I have had most of them put forward as an excuse!

Many moons ago I use to visit students in the workplace - one person, aged about 19, hadn't completed any work. She said to me 'You don't know what it's like, Jill. When I get home I have to cook a meal, do the housework and washing'.

Clearly thought I just stepped out of and back into a box to visit her, or that I had a house-full of servants at home to do my every bidding.

                            Jill
One craft project, like one cookie, is never enough!

Welcome to the real world !

My eldest is just realising the bureaucracy and form filling as she is now in college and one day last week she "expected" her dinner on the table the other night as she had "had a hard day" !

Needless to say she was given a short sharp lesson in the "real world" we all live in !
