I saw the pictures on GMTV today - terrible 3 people dead - you don't expect such extreme weather in Britain.

We have some sun today so hopefully things are changing and Britain might get a chance to dry out.

The main road in our village was flooded, but fortunately it missed out our street. When I took Genevieve to school this morning, a couple of her teachers aren't in due to flood damage and trying to bail out their houses

I live at the top of a valley. If we ever get flooded it means the whole of Bath has disappeared, so hopefully it will never happen!

              pretty wet here

its been pretty wet i was trapped in the house yesterday, but I did manage to get my tax return done!!!
The road was flooded, and the cellars started to flood, but that does happen every two three years or so anyway.

I have been lucky, its so sad that people have lost their lives.
Also that dam may burst, that looks very scary. And then there's the whole clean up operation.
I think the councils ahould be penalised for allowing planning on flood plains, because even if the new houses don't flood the problem gets passed on to further down the stream/river.

We're lucky here in Cambridge - I think they have some good flood defences further up the river Cam.

The other half's family are in Hull, and his mum got trapped in work I can't think of anything worse than being trapped at work

Don't tell Lisa ... she's already afraid of work ... she'll never go in again if she hears that lol.

In all seriousness, it is dreadful what is happening. Hubby works in Immingham and said that a lot of people left early yesterday as they had to travel across the Humber Bridge back into Hull.

I remember the last time Sheffield was seriously flooded, it was awful. The biggest problem though isn't the flooding, it's the massive clean up operation afterwards. The poor families in Leeds who have just had their insurace assessors round from their floods 3 weeks ago are under water again

I've only heard the news - haven't watched it but they have evacuated three villages near the dam in case it bursts. My parents live near a river and have their sand bags out at the moment. They are hoping that Fountains Abbey (National Trust place near their town) doesn't open it's flood gates because it all flows into the river and that's how their road got flooded two years ago. Luckily they are slightly higher up than their neighbours but it's not much fun for their neighbours - most of whom are elderly.
