  • schools closed!!!!

Sent the kids off to catch the bus this morning and then just got out into the rain with Eden to take her to school and heard a huge noise.... turned round to see the kids getting off the bus. I thought "o heck the bus has broken down, I'll have to go and get the car from mum so i can take them into school" Then the bus drove off.....
turns out they travelled into school only to be met by the caretaker and told to go home coz the heating isn't working and the buses probably wouldn't be ab;le to cope if the rain continues. So not only has my peace been shattered by my own two lads, but I've also got a handfull of other kids here who can't get into their homes. Talk about noise. I've told them they can't go on this computer coz I'm working !!

Now who would have believed that in the middle of June kids would have got sent home from school because the heating isn't working. Should be they get sent home because the weather is too hot - and what do the global warming extremists say to that!!!

Hope the rabble end up getting to their own houses and you can get a bit of peace (well as much as your kids will allow)

    Cheers

That's disgusting sending them home like that without making sure they have somewhere to go.
      How old are they?
      And heating? It's boiling here.....

Oh dear - hope they aren't being too noisy for you? Anya's school is still open thank goodness but it is absolutely pouring here - I've only just dried out from taking her up this morning and I've got to go out again in 10 mins! Typically the week it is pouring it down, Matt takes Anya's car seat to Manchester airport with him on Monday morning so I can't even jump in the car to go and get her - booo!

They are 11 - 18. Senior school age. As for boiling there..... lucky you! like Swirlyarts, we've got rain. 2 days solid now and very very heavy!
I am down to just one stray child now.
I've got the heating on here and it's still cold.

            On The Plus Side...

.....we too have had monsoon season, but it's muggy out there.

BUT it's just pelted it down, my washing had a second rinse, and the garden is dripping. There's that gorgeous 'just washed' fresh smell outside, mingled with my jasmin & honeysuckle.....if only I could bottle it! Just divine....

I suppose I can afford to wax lyrical, I don't have a houseful of other people's kids!

Here comes the rain again, lightening too this time.

                Flood!

......nearly lost £100's worth of fabric, lots of it out of print!

The DD went to her b/f's this morning, leaving her velux windows open! We didn't even think of them when the monsoons hit. The water poured through her attic room window, soaked through the rug and the carpet below and then came through the ceiling into my workroom, narrowly missng the #1 son's new laptop (plugged in!!) and all my fabric stacked up on the bookshelf next to it.....

My carpet is drenched but at least it hasn't gone down into Himself's study with all his work stuff etc, which is paperwork.

I think the DD's carpet & rug are ruined though, but not worth claiming on the insurance for. They were due for replacement but we can't afford it yet.

                That was a close shave.......

Oh dear - at least it didn't get the fabric - or more importantly the laptop.
