    I have...

been to Cancun and I am going back again this year, this will be my third time and I absolutely love it.

Cancun hotel zone is as it sounds lots of hotels, very expensive and very very americanised. I go to Playa del Carmen (Playa car). And love it. It is a district of hotels all on the beach front (I think they all are in cancun anyway) but not as over crowded or americanised. The place is beautiful and the people are really friendly.

The last time I was there was when hurricane Emily hit (we went right through it in the hotel) I can tell you that had to be one of the most scariest things I have ever went through. Not so much for me but when the hurricane hit fully I was terrified for the kids because you weren't safe to go outside (obviously) but inside wasn't safe either, particularly when the roof fell in!!! But I have to tell you it hasn't put me of Mexico that is the chance you take when you go in hurricane season. The next day the shops were open, electricity was back on water was back on and everyone was cleaning up.

Loved it would highly recommend it.

    Cheers.

This is where we got evacuated too when the hurricane hit - and it is just the dogs!!! Have a look at the site. It is the Royal - Playa del carmen (Real Resots).

        Cheers.

Went to Cancun for our honeymoon, it was busy especially with Americans, but thats what we wanted, we did virtually nothing for a week except chill out. Did go to Chichen Itza though, well worth visiting.

Chichen Itza is closed to visitors I think now. Something to do with too many people wearing out the ruins.

One of the best places to sit back and chill.

                    Cheers.

They sell beads in Mexico so it must be worth the trip.
The only other fact I know is that they eat chocolate with meat!! (no I know... not choccy as we know it!)

Really like the hotel lisa mentioned and the forum for that area on tripadvisor is buzzing about it..

                              hmmm

Have stopped looking as I loose days looking at reviews.. Then spend day hunting for the best price lol.
