  • Trojan Horse 11.b --- Help

Does anyone know how to get ride of this virus. My son got it on his computer through instant messenger. I have tried various things and seem to have the main virus sorted out however he keeps getting crap pop up sites.

Would the best thing be a full system re boot?

    All the best.

He is using AVG but has downloaded AVAST already. I went into the Technibble site and did that. I have turned back on system restore though.

I don't get a AVG saying Trojan detected but keep getting pop ups for things like loopy love and crap like that. As soon as he connects to the net (I tried it with the craft forum on his site) another site covers the one you are on (do you know what I mean). He keeps getting a message from antivirus pro 2007 saying it's detected a virus (or porn) download now - just click it off.

        Cheers.

My hubby says do you have xp and do you have system install turned on, if so your system install disk may contain the virus.

Have a look at http://www.technibble.com/forums/showthread.php?p=3102 which discusses the removal of this virus. also try in internet explorer, tools ,internet options, privacy ,and turn on pop up blocker, if you click advance you can set your filter level and if its bugging you say block all pop ups, medium is the default.

If you understand all this good luck.

Thanks Heather. I have tried all of them - just can't get ride of it. As soon as I go into the internet explorer and start to surf this tricky little bugger flicks up. Looks really official and need to be careful you don't think it is the site you are searching.

Do you think it is best to re boot the system from the Master CD and start again?

                Cheers

If you don't mind losing your setting then it may be the fastest way..

When removing crap like this you have to make sure you boot up in safe mode and turn off system restore.. Remove the problem twice!, reboot after each time in safe mode and then try a normal reboot.. I take a while to sort these things out..

                  Its a good leason ..

                    Ow you are too right!!!!!!

Do you turn system restore off before you reboot in safe mode?

Also when I start in safe mode (i.e. pressing F8 at the start) I get a list of systems to choose from - what do I chose - if I am right (because I am at my work just now and not at home) the first choice I have is something like DVD18X18X something like that. Which one do I select to start in safe mode?

You are a little star so you are. I keep trying to give you rep points but wont let me!!!

boot up f8 you on that list it should have safe mode.. you might need to go to more options etc..

disable system restore and do the removal suggestion on the link from before..

Do that twice to make sure..

                      Hopefully that should sort it..
